PRE-MOVE CHECKLIST

House moving checklist
Use our pre-move checklist that we have prepared for you to ensure that you are ready for moving day.

FOUR WEEKS BEFORE MOVING DAY

  • Book your job with a reputable moving company. It goes without saying that Warringah Furniture Removals are the best men for the job. It pays to book your job as early as possible to avoid missing out on the moving date that you require

  • Organise Contents and Household Insurance for your new home

  • Notify Electoral Office of your new address. Also your Drivers Licence and Car Registration

  • Spring clean!!! There is no better time to get rid of everything that you don't need than moving. Clearing out unnecessary items will declutter your life as well as reduce your moving bill

  • Schedule to have appliances and utilities disconnected in the old house; schedule connection for the new house too

  • Redirect or cancel newspaper and other subscriptions

  • Book in a cleaner to complete an end of lease clean/sale clean

TWO WEEKS BEFORE MOVING DAY

  • If you are not using our professional packing service, it's time to start packing yourself. We offer all of our customers a free DIY packing kit containing 25 boxes, wrapping paper and tape. This is discussed at time of booking. Click here for advice on how to safely pack your personal effects

  • Redirect mail at Australia Post - http://auspost.com.au/parcels-mail/redirecting-your-mail.html

  • Make special arrangements for your children and family pets. Click here for a full article on how to ensure a smooth transition into your pets new home

SEVEN DAYS BEFORE MOVING DAY

  • Set aside bed linens, towels to be used on the first night so beds can be made up as soon as possible on moving day

  • Confirm that your mover has all contact numbers, new address and clear detailed instructions

TWO DAYS BEFORE MOVING DAY

  • Stop watering your pot plants - this will make them lighter for the movers to carry

  • Empty and defrost freezers. We recommend asking a friend or neighbour if you can use their freezer space until you are in the new house

  • Arrange access and parking for the Removalists truck

  • Prepare an action plan for moving day

  • Say goodbye to your old neighbours!!!
